"In the early second half of the twentieth century the mechanicistic theory of classical-modern gnathology prevailed, which was based on the concept that occlusion is determined by hard structures: CONDYLES and GLENOID CAVITY. In America, just in that period, Doctor B. Jankelson upset the odontological world with his theory on neuromuscular concepts, turning over the concept of gnathology. He attributed to musculature the function which up to that period was of the hard structures: these ones did not act as hinges of the articular movements anymore, they only permitted those movements."

Teolindo Alessandri, graduated in Odonthostomatology by the Faculty of Medicine - Rijeka University, is concerned about Gnatology since many years, particularly dedicated to the total dentures.
He is a formal Member of the Academy of International research of neuro-muscolar arrangement an occlusion(I.A.P.N.O.R.) and he is an author of various publications about the neuromuscular gnatolgy concepts.
